I got a 2 terabyte Western Digital external hard drive two years ago for only $79. If the next XBOX and PlayStation do the same as Wii U and offer the ability to use any external hard drive for game & data storage for the console, then it’ll be relatively cheap to have both a 2 or 3 terabyte main external hard drive, as well as a backup 2 or 3 terabyte external hard drive. The remedy for that is to just keep a clone drive handy that acts as a backup for the main hard drive.
